From Ulleri through Ghorepani… to Poon Hill!

Sky's the limit!

Between the roofs of the village, we see a bit of the Annapurna.
We start again with a flop of steps that climb quite steeply. We start to realize how steps should become our friends because we are going to climb them… a lot! (1 entire day)

The path then descends to the river with a series of small waterfalls that embellish the road. The weather is nice and hot, stairs again and we arrive at the village of Ghorepani to spend the night (a few hours) before the early wake up (3am 😱)… to Poon Hill!!!!!

4AM, after a night without heaters, lights on our heads, let’s go climbing the last (but not least) stairs. It’s really cold, we are freezing but it will last only 10 minutes… As we are going up, we quickly start to be sweaty!

At 3210 meters, the view is completely clogged and opaque. Even the rising sun does not dissipate the thick mist… But we are proud of ourselves and happy to light up the 2 candles we took to surprise Sophie and Mika for their birthday! Happy moment! … And finally… Sun is uuuuuuuppp!!!!!!! We waited 1 hour in the cold but it worth it!

WE DID IT!
Then, back to Ghorepani for a quick breakfast and we walk aaaaaalll the way down. My knee is hurting bad but it was doable, a proof that mental can do a lot. Did not talk a lot about people but we crossed the road of several Nepalese living in the mountains, doing some alcohol, sewing, we also saw long tales monkeys and buffalos… But we are going to see more in a while…

We are tired but happy, this trek was deeply emotional and even spiritual.
One of the best memories in my life so far.
